How do I get started with CoHelper?

Download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Register as an employer and create your household profile — this takes under two minutes. Once set up, choose the paid employer plan that fits your household and invite your domestic helper by sending them a household invitation link. Your helper downloads the free helper version and joins with one tap.

Is the app free for domestic helpers?

Yes — completely free, forever. Domestic helpers download and use CoHelper with no subscription cost whatsoever. They can view assigned tasks, receive and review payslips, track their own expenses, and use biometric login. There are no hidden fees, no trials, and no credit card required for helpers.

How does the payroll feature work?

Employers navigate to the Payroll section and initiate a new payroll run for the month. Enter the base salary, any deductions, and any allowances. The app calculates the total and lets you confirm the payment. Once confirmed, a professional payslip is generated automatically and becomes immediately visible to your helper in their app. All payroll records are stored securely and can be viewed at any time.

Can I add bonus or extra payments?

Yes. In addition to the standard monthly salary, employers can add bonus payments and one-off extra payments at any time. These appear as separate line items on the payslip so both employer and helper have a clear record of all compensation. Extra payments are noted with a reason or label you provide.

What is AI Receipt Scanning and how does it work?

AI Receipt Scanning uses your device camera and advanced OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology to automatically extract information from paper receipts — including the merchant name, date, line items, and total amount. Simply tap the camera icon in the expenses section, point at a receipt, and the app does the rest. You can review and confirm the extracted data before saving. Scanned images are encrypted and stored securely.

How do I enable biometric login?

After logging in with your email and password for the first time, the app will prompt you to enable biometric login (fingerprint or Face ID, depending on your device). You can also enable it manually by going to Settings → Security → Enable Biometric Login. Once enabled, you can log in with just a fingerprint or face scan on subsequent sessions. This feature is available on all supported devices for both employers and helpers.

Is my data stored in Hong Kong?

Yes. CoHelper stores all your data on servers located in Hong Kong. We use regional infrastructure powered by Tencent Cloud and protected by Cloudflare's Web Application Firewall. This ensures fast performance for Hong Kong users and full compliance with local data residency expectations under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO).

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

If you cancel your employer subscription, your account will remain active until the end of the current billing period. After that, your account will revert to a read-only state — you can still view historical records and payslips, but you will not be able to create new tasks or process payroll. Your helper's account continues to work normally (viewing past payslips etc.). You can reactivate at any time by resubscribing via Google Play.

How do I invite my domestic helper?

Once your household is set up, go to the Household section and tap "Invite Helper". You can share an invitation via WhatsApp, SMS, email, or any messaging app. Your helper will receive a link to download the free helper version of CoHelper and join your household automatically. The invitation link is secure and expires after 48 hours for security reasons.
